Role Responsibilites

To work on an RAF Waddington limiting the risk to life and property from the hazards associated with bird and animal strikes on aircraft. Deliver effective bird and wildlife control in accordance to the specification sold or liase with Management to present alternatives that will ensure the client achieves their own objectives.

Full Training given to successful candidate however experience of military procedures, airfield and radio communications would be an advantage.

Hold a clean full drivers licence

You must not suffer from colour blindness due to safety restrictions on the airfield, a full colour perception test is required and the opticians certificate must be presented to the RAF for airside driving permits.

To pass various MOD security checks to acquire the necessary station clearances and security checks.

We are an environmental and wildlife management company based in Snetterton looking to add to our growing team.

This role would require you to support the Team Leaders and Operational staff to ensure the teams run effectively & efficiently whilst providing the client with the first rate customer service we pride ourselves on and that we must deliver.

You will take ownership of the day to day organising of a given area whilst maybe working with colleagues supporting different areas to bring the best results. This would include the diary management of operational staff, Material ordering, Access ordering etc. You will work within a great team of people who follow a job from the point of conversion on our system through to delivering the work and invoicing the client.

We provide a friendly and relaxed working environment at our head office. We can offer a unique environment within the large grounds of Snetterton Park where you can witness the training of the company’s birds of prey daily along with free parking and great access to the A11 between Thetford and Norwich.

The role of a Contract Manager is a senior and highly respected role within our organisation as these talented people keep the flow of work to our operations that ensures our future sustainability.

The role of the Contract Manager is twofold.

Business Development. To network and develop meaningful long term relationships with clients that will create opportunities for you to convert to business to enable you to reach the financial targets set by the company.

Account Management. You will also lead the delivery of works that are assigned to you liaising with the operations teams and the client during a project to ensure operations deliver within the budgeted costs and to the specifications agreed with the client.

Duties:

A Contract Manager’s ability to develop positive relationships with clients to create effective communications to assist in the management of projects will be a critical success factor to delivering operations on-time to the specified standard. Key duties will be:

  • Writing of project specific risk assessments, method statements and project outlines.
  • On site and off site management liaising with clients, contractors and staff.
  • Liaising with ecologists, clients, sub-contractors, suppliers, regulatory body representatives.
  • Company compound management and resource control.
  • Communicating with Field Teams in “Ways of Working” and expected quality standards.
  • Quality monitoring of Field Teams’ work.

The second key component of the Contract Manager role is ability to price, sell, and manage work. Works may be Bird/Pest control, wildlife management or Ecology contracting and consultancy and may be requests from existing customers or new opportunities generated by yourself. The Contract Manager will have to;

  • Promote yourself and the company, networking to develop new and existing client relationships.
  • Attend site visits with clients to accurately quote for works and offer expertise.
  • Identify, price and supervise additional works.
  • Prepare bid proposals and quotations for all services.
  • Negotiate and close to obtain order.

Responsibilities:

Experience

The candidate will ideally have had some, but not necessarily all, of the following experiences before joining:

Located in Dunkeswell, Devon, close to the border with Somerset, Blackdown Environmental provides

The Role:

Blackdown Environmental has a vacancy for an enthusiastic and committed seasonal Assistant Ecologist to join the Ecological Consultancy Department. The role involves supporting the team of Ecologists to deliver the wide range of projects throughout the busy ecological survey season. The successful candidate will undertake a variety of tasks, including those associated with the maintenance and deployment of equipment, undertaking surveys where suitably competent (or after having received relevant training), collation and analysis of data, report drafting and all reasonable tasks associated with the running of a successful Ecological Consultancy, including ecological related administration. The role would suit a recent graduate or someone wishing to gain experience in the field of ecological consultancy.

 

Tasks (where suitably competent).

  • Undertaking bat emergence, dawn re-entry and activity surveys
  • Undertaking reptile surveys and translocations
  • Setting out survey equipment including static bat detectors, dormouse tubes and reptile tiles
  • Undertaking a range of ecological surveys where suitably trained or competent to do so
  • Downloading and archiving bat echolocation data
  • Analysis of bat echolocation calls
  • Commissioning biological records searches and undertaking desk-based studies
  • Mapping habitats and species data

  • A variety of administration and other tasks associated with the Ecological Department
