We’re looking for a presentable, positive person with a proactive attitude to join our team at RAF Barkston Heath on a temporary basis to cover for a short-term absence.

Working in partnership with customers, NBC remains true to its original values providing strategic environmental planning integrated with sustainable ecology, bird and pest solutions. NBC’s services have been developed to remove the risk of nature adversely impacting upon commercial activities by delivering comprehensive business protection. It works with clients in sectors such as facilities management, health and safety, construction and property management, and much more, to ensure their working environments remain hazard free and compliant. 

Main Duties:  

  • Your primary duty will be to patrol the airfield in order to deter wildlife from the active surfaces and airspace. 
  • Reporting on your observations through our online system. 
  • Observe fully the clients’ restrictions on site relating to movement around the airfield. 
  • Correct use of radio communications with the ATC or other airfield users. 

Requirements:  

  • Basic IT skills 
  • A clean, full drivers’ licence  
  • You must not suffer from colour blindness due to safety restrictions on the airfield, a full colour perception test is required and the opticians’ certificate must be presented to the RAF for airside driving permits. 
  • Possess a firearms AND shotgun certificate. 
  • To pass various MOD security checks to acquire the necessary station clearances and security checks. 

Full Training given to successful candidate however experience of military procedures, airfield and radio communications would be an advantage.

Reporting to: Service Director

Description:

Responsible for the Management of all systems and infrastructure supporting the business’s operations, sales and back office support functions; the business including NBC and all subsidiary companies. NBC are Office 365 based.

Objectives of the role:

  • Support the business by ensuring an optimum level of in-house systems operations via office and remote desktop support to colleagues
  • Manage the provision of hand-held technology to field staff
  • Manage the requests for system changes and be pivotal in the evaluation process for their implementation and optimum timing of introduction.
  • Lead role in development of improvements to company systems.
  • Manage data integrity of in-house systems to ensure data is relevant, up-to-date and accurate.
  • Manage commercial spend throughout NBC’s ICT services and identify best value services and suppliers by way of tender.
  • Manage the interface of 3rd party systems and service support provision.

Core Duties

  • Introduce ticket management system to manage changes to data and systems
  • Manage relationships with 3rd party suppliers
  • Provide desktop and remote support to users for Office and bespoke applications
  • Review and rationalise documents held within network
  • Manage integrity and security of outlook users.
  • Portal Administration and change management
  • Provide hardware to support desk and field users specific job requirements
  • Work with 3rd party provider to minimise downtime to head office broadband provision
  • Manage provision of hand-held technology, PCs, laptops, mobile and desktop phones as required
  • Provide weekly reports as required and directed by Line Manager
  • Review reporting requirements and whether they can be system generated with minimal manual intervention
  • Work with the SD to continue to innovate and add value in all areas of support.
  • Lead regular Change Management meetings and control and update the Change Register
  • Management of hardware stocks and provide quarterly updates to Finance.
  • Provision of training for in-house systems.
  • Day to day supervision for 1 PT support resource

Responsibilities

This is a key role that provides invaluable support to the ongoing capability of the business within all functions and provides a stable foundation and enhanced capability for future growth.

  • Provide a user and solutions-focused service.
  • To facilitate the main group strategies via identification and implementation of ICT services and solutions that deliver innovation and automation to the business
  • Respond to changing business needs to introduce changes to reporting, data management, software and hardware.

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Relevant third level qualification and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a similar management role.
  • Project management experience managing and implementing large scale ICT systems, primarily with a focus on site infrastructure and data centre deployments.
  • ICT infrastructural planning and development experience
  • Demonstrable experience in strategic and operational ICT management including financial and budgetary management
  • Process and quality management experience
  • Team and people management
  • Experience of managing security of sensitive and personal information with knowledge of data protection regulations
  • Backup, Disaster Recovery and preventative maintenance experience
  • Working Knowledge of Active Directory Administration and Group Policy experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the following: Windows 7 to 10, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365 products ,Web hosting technologies, Amazon Workspace,Azure
  • Experience of registration or membership systems would be an advantage

Hours of work

Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm core hours with flexibility between 8am and 4pm. If agreed. You may be required to do additional hours to meet business needs.

Blackdown Environmental provides Ecological Consultancy and Environmental Contracting services to a wide variety of clients within the transport (road and rail), housing, charitable and utilities sectors.

The Role:

Blackdown Environmental has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Senior Ecologist to help deliver and develop an ecological consultancy service from our Midlands office. The role includes working alongside our existing small team of Ecologists based in Devon to deliver and expand our services both within the Midlands and other parts of the country. The successful candidate will be a good team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Ecology or related subject
  • At least 3 years’ experience of working within the field of ecological consultancy
  • Experience of undertaking Phase 1 habitat survey/ Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (and able to demonstrate good botanical identification), and a range of protected species surveys.
  • Holder of protected species licences.
  • Experience of performing Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) duties
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience of producing high quality reports
  • Full driving licence
  • Attention to detail and methodical approach to tasks
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Professional appearance and manner with clients
  • Ability to be involved in business development and generation of new work opportunities
  • Ability to work away from the office including overnight stays when required
