Job role:

This is an extremely varied role but can be categorised into five main aspects:

  • With the highest standards, house and care for our birds of prey; expertly flying them to fulfil our bird management obligations.

The primary role of the Team Leader is to lead their team by example, to ensure that the quality of service in that area, and the performance of their colleagues, reflects their own. Team Leaders will work with the service desk to ensure the most efficient process to deliver this.  As a Team Leader, you will be required to have daily contact with every member of your team to discuss daily performance and check that the following days schedule remains appropriate, liaising directly with the Service Desk to ensure objectives are achieved.

The Role

The position of HR Administrator is a hands on role as the “go-to” person for all HR administration; providing support and administrative services to the HR Manager and staff throughout the Company.  This is an ideal opportunity for someone to start in HR and gain experience in an SME environment with the potential to study for CIPD qualifications (at company discretion).

The role will include administration for Company programmes and processes such at Reward and Recognition, recruitment, induction, management of HRI system and absence management reporting. In addition a large segment of work will be devoted to digitally updating and maintaining training records, identifying when training or certifications are due for renewal and liaising with external providers and employees to book courses at national centres or in-house through our Training and Development Managers

Reporting to HR Manager

Job Duties

  • Management of HR and Vacancy Inboxes
  • Reward and Recognition programme – to be responsible for producing and sending certificates, managing procurement and distribution of awards (vouchers, gifts etc.), liaison with Finance and Marketing departments and production of a quarterly report
  • Recruitment – work with HR Manager and Training and Development Managers to post job adverts on external job sites and/or liaising with Marketing to post roles on Company website and intranet. Collation of applicant details for hiring managers, arranging of interviews and all email and hard copy correspondence through to job hire including offer letters, contracts and Statement of Main Terms of Employment, reference requests and DBS checks where appropriate
  • Employee data – upload and file employee information to e: files and paper files ensuring data is confidentially filed in a timely fashion
  • HRIS – In 2019 work with HR Manager to populate HRI System to capture all employee data then be responsible for maintaining and updating system on a regular basis
  • HRIS – run regular and ad hoc reports from HRIS as required, for example run Absence reports for Finance on a monthly basis and extract data when requested by Business Development or Commercial departments for Tender documents or accreditation purposes
  • HRIS – create and update company organisation charts
  • Employee Relations – together with HR Manager answer employee queries with reference to HR Policies and Procedures and the Employee Handbook
  • Support HR Manager on any relevant projects
  • Arrange meetings and manage HR departmental diary
  • Act as note taker when required for internal meetings, disciplinary hearings, investigations and grievances hearings

The Role

Blackdown Environmental has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Senior Ecologist to help deliver and develop an ecological consultancy service from our Midlands office. The role includes working alongside our existing small team of Ecologists based in Devon to deliver and expand our services both within the Midlands and other parts of the country. The successful candidate will be a good team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Ecology or related subject
  • At least 3 years’ experience of working within the field of ecological consultancy
  • Experience of undertaking Phase 1 habitat survey/ Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (and able to demonstrate good botanical identification), and a range of protected species surveys.
  • Holder of protected species licences.
  • Experience of performing Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) duties
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience of producing high quality reports
