Blackdown Environmental completed a suite of bat surveys and designed a bat mitigation plan to assist in the granting of planning permission and a European Protected Species Licence. Three bat species were recorded utilising the buildings including lesser horseshoe, brown longeared and common pipistrelle bats. Compensatory roosting opportunities included the provision of a purpose-designed building incorporating appropriate entrances and roosting opportunities for the species present.
At the commencement of works a licensed bat ecologist from Blackdown Environmental provided the Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) services required to ensure that bats were not harmed during the conversion works.
