Blackdown

ROLO (Registration of Landbased Operatives) Training

Blackdown Environmental now offer BALI approved ROLO (Registration of Landbased Operatives) training, run by Tony Lane of A M Lane Ltd.  Attendance of a ROLO health and safety course is now required less than 2 years before applying for LISS or a CSCS blue card, regardless of qualifications held. On completion of the training day all candidates must complete a multi-choice assessment and obtain 75% pass rate.

The course lasts one day and the cost covers:

  • All course material
  • Certification
  • Assessment
  • Lunch and refreshments during the day

LANTRA Basic Tree Inspection Course

The Basic Tree Inspection Training Course aims to provide you with the knowledge to be able to identify a hazardous tree, determine the level of risk and then decide on an appropriate course of action.

The course lasts one day and covers the following:

  • Legal and safety implications of hazardous trees
  • Health and safety while carrying out Basic Tree Survey and Inspection
  • Recognising hazardous trees
  • Determining levels of risk
  • Deciding on appropriate courses of action
  • Collecting and maintaining adequate information
  • Recognising your own limitations

The course will also cover issues such as developing tree risk assessments and tree risk management strategies.

EFAW+F Forestry First Aid Course

The EFAW Enhanced skills for Forestry Workers & Arborists course is a basic first aid course covering a generic accident procedure, unconsciousness, CPR and minor injuries. Further information is available here.

The Forestry Commission recommend topics including:

  • Severe bleeding (i.e. chainsaw injury)
  • Crush injury
  • Hypothermia
  • Lyme Disease
